For the second consecutive year, the readers of USA Today, one of the highest circulation of American newspapers, gave us the first place in the annual list of the top ten European countries.
"Portugal is less iconic than the famous countries but offers a wealth of opportunities to travelers: charming villages, great food, fascinating regional music, cultural opportunities, a beautiful coastline and even world-class surfing." The business card appears in USA Today (newspaper that sells more in the US, with a circulation over 1.6 million copies daily) illustrates the charm that we are allocated. This time, Portugal was chosen by readers from all over the newspaper world as the best destination in Europe in 2015 - as had happened in 2014. The vote was one of the most hard-fought, yet the country, "often underestimated, has all the trappings to be a beautiful European city, "said the newspaper, leaving behind destinations like Italy, Austria and Germany, second, third and fourth places.
"Portugal apparently stole the hearts of our readers, ensuring the highest number of votes," the USA Today. The sidewalks and medieval castles, sunny beaches, delicious cuisine and history to explore are attributes that make Portugal a destination of choice. "Whether you are swimming in the turquoise waters, sipping a glass of port in the Port City Cafe or listening to the melancholy wail of fado in Lisbon, the understated beauty of Portugal is obvious."
